KZT 454.4 bn to be allocated for education and science in Kazakhstan

The draft revised budget for 2016 provides funds in the amount of 454.4 billion tenge for education and science with increase by 55.1 billion tenge from the approved plan, Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov has said in the Senate of the Parliament during the presentation of changes to the national budget for 2016.

"For education and science the draft revised budget allocates funds in the amount of 454.4 billion tenge with increase by 55.1 billion tenge from the approved plan. 27.9 billion tenge - additional costs for the construction of 42 new schools to eliminate three-shift education and school accidents due to target transfer from the National Fund. Thus, the number of new schools will reach 76 schools. In general, taking into account previously provided funds from the National Fund, the draft revised budget provides for 45.2 billion tenge for the completion of construction of 76 schools in 2017 and the liquidation of emergency schools and three-shift education , " Sultanov said.

According to the head of the agency, 18.9 billion tenge will be allocated for implementation of new measures of the State program of development of education and science.

"Including 14.8 billion tenge will be allocated to conduct ongoing research on software-target and grant funding; 8.5 billion tenge for payment of exchange rate difference on the "Bolashak" program and salaries of foreign teachers and scholars, including teachers of the Nazarbayev University, " he added.
