28 December - national mourning day in Kazakhstan
The 28 of December is announced the national mourning in Kazakhstan in connection with human casualties resulting from the airplane crash near Almaty city, Akorda's press service informed.
"In connection with the loss of life as a result of the crash of a passenger airplane in Talgar district of Almaty region, to declare December 28, 2019 the national mourning in the Republic of Kazakhstan" President Tokayev's decree reads.
It should be noted that today early in the morning all Kazakhstanis have been struck by the information about Bek Air's airplane crash. According to the information of the Emergency Committee, there were 5 crew members and 93 passengers on board, including foreign citizens: 2 citizens of Ukraine, 1 citizen of China, and 1 citizen of Kyrgyzstan.
In total, 12 people died as a result of the incident, including the crew commander. 49 people have been hospitalized in various medical institutions of Almaty, 18 of them in serious condition. The rest is provided with medical and psychological assistance.
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed deep condolences to the families and friends of the citizens who died.
The President instructed to provide assistance to the victims and announced the creation of a special government commission led by Prime Minister Askar Mamin. The Head of State also instructed to bring those responsible to strict liability in accordance with the law.
