Majilis approved ratification of Agr’t on elimination of technical barriers in trade between CIS and CU countries (PHOTO)

Majilis approved the draft Law of Kazakhstan "On Ratification of the Agreement of the Member States of the Customs Union on the elimination of technical barriers in mutual trade with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, non-member states of the Customs Union".

"The agreement is aimed at the eliminating the technical barriers in mutual trade between the member states of the Customs Union and the states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, non-member states of the Customs Union, at the facilitating the access for products of the CIS countries to the single customs territory of the Customs Union, and at the expansion of trade and economic and investment cooperation", the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and security informed.

According to the report, the agreement determines the order and conditions of joining the CIS member states that are not members of the Customs Union, to the technical regulations of the Customs Union.

The document stipulates that any member state of the CIS, which is not a member state of the Customs Union, may submit the request for elimination of technical barriers in mutual trade in respect of certain products to the Eurasian Economic Commission.

"On the basis of this request the Commission establishes a list of technical regulations of the Customs Union, which apply to the products defined in the query, and a list of Commission decisions that are necessary for the application of these technical regulations, and bring them to the attention of the State concerned", the message reads.
