14 children repatriated by Kazakhstan from Iraq – Kazakh MFA
On November 27 this year, as a result of a humanitarian action carried out on behalf of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, 14 Kazakhstani children were returned to Kazakhstan from Iraq. These minor Kazakh citizens were in an Iraqi prison with their mothers serving sentences for involvement in terrorist activities.
This humanitarian action was carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the request of the mothers and relatives of the children in close cooperation with a number of state bodies, domestic non-governmental structures and international organizations.

After completing the documentation process and the rehabilitation period, the children will be reunited with their relatives.

The 2019 year is a landmark year for Kazakhstan and UNICEF. Exactly 30 years ago, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was signed, and in February it was 25 years since the ratification of this Convention by our country.
