Yermek Serkebayev’s memorial plaque set in Almaty
As reported by the Governor's office, the event was attended by Mayor of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yesimov, relatives, friends and admirers of the opera singer, intellectuals as well.
The head of metropolis noted the invaluable contribution to the development of an outstanding master of the song art of the country and stressed that the memory of Yermek Serkebayev forever remain in the memory of the people.
Since 1947 Yrmek Serkebaev - soloist of the Kazakh Theater of Opera and Ballet (Alma-Ata).
Winner of the World Festival of Youth and Students in Bucharest (2nd Ave, 1953), the All-Union competition of vocalists and dancers, Moscow (2nd Ave, 1956), the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow (2nd Ave, 1957).
In 1957 he played in the musical comedy Shaken Aimanov and sang A.Zatsepin "Above me the sky is blue", immediately became popular in the country.
