Number of convicted persons reduced in Kazakhstan for h1 2014

Today speaking during the CCS media briefing, Chairman of the supervisory judicial panel for criminal cases of the Supreme Court Akuyltai Kassimov informed that the number of convicts in the six months of 2014 has decreased.
The number of acquittals decreased from 248 to 219 and of convicted people - from 13 238 to 12 904. Among them 5,313 were incarcerated, against 4,861 in January - June 2013, according to the hairman of the supervisory judicial panel for criminal cases of the Supreme Court.
841 people were sentenced to imprisonment for the most serious crimes. They make up 6.5% of the number of convicts.
6 329 persons were convicted for grave crimes (49%), almost half of which (3,079 people) were sentenced to actual imprisonment.
Among the convicts, 409 are minors (3.2%), of which 140 - for committing a robbery, 87 - for theft, 42 - disorderly conduct, 29 - assault, 12 – for murder, 17 – for inflicting grievous bodily harm.
