Number of young people involved in drug abuse decreased: A.Yeskaliyeva (BRIEFING VIDEO)
"The main trend of the past five years is a reduction in the number of people who are officially registered in the health system, by 10%. The number of young people who are involved in drug abuse is also reduced," A.Yeskaliyeva said.
According to Altynai Yeskaliyeva, the problem of drug addiction will remain one of the topical issues as long as it is conditioned by medical consequences of drug abuse as well as social and legal consequences.
"Active measures on prevention of spread of infections among drug addicts are taken. In general, health centers for medical and psychological counseling of adolescents and youth opened in the country to improve the health of the younger generation. Youth centers have been working on the prevention of smoking, alcohol consumption, drug abuse, development of responsible safe behavior, prevention of sexually transmitted infections by HIV/AIDS," the director of the Republican Scientific-Practical Centre of Medical and Social Problems of Drug Abuse resumed.
