Kazakhstan hosts CSTO maneuvers

A complex exercises of the Collective Rapid Response Forces of the Collective Security Treaty "Interaction 2014" kicked off today in "Spassk" military range of Karaganda region.

Deputy Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Valery Semerikov, First Deputy Minister of Defense - Chief of the General Staff of Kazakhstan, Colonel-General Saken Zhasuzakov, and Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Lieutenant-General Alexander Studenikin took part in the exercises. 

The exercises were aimed at improving coherence of CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force in preparation of hostilities and command and control, including to deploy troops in the region of interaction and comprehensive support.

Practice of use of the military contingents and formations of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force in the Central Asian region will be practiced during the exercises “Interaction 2014” 

For the first time the organization of information warfare and psychological warfare, practical tasks in their jurisdiction, cyber security of their own information systems, software and technical impact on the data objects of the enemy will be tested at the practical part of the exercises.

Troops from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan  - about 3 thousand people and more than 200 pieces of military units and about 30 aircraft involved in the exercises.
