“The main migration exchange occurs with the Commonwealth of Independent States,” Chairman of the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov informed at a briefing in Central Communications Service under the President on Monday in Astana.
According to him the number of internal migrants amounted 170 thousand people over six months.
“Thus, in January-June, the number of registered people arriving in the country for permanent residence was 8454 man, leaved the country- 10,793 human migration balance - minus 2,339 people.
"Positive net migration is observed in the cities of Astana and Almaty, Mangistau, Atyrau and Aktobe regions,” the speaker added.
