A.Smailov: Kazakhstani population grew by 124 people
“As of 1 July 2014, the population of Kazakhstan amounts to 17 million 284 thousand people including urban population - 55.1%, rural - 44.9%. The population grew by 124 thousand persons or 0, 7%, from the beginning of the year,"Smailov said.
Thus, according to statistics, the population size has increased by 256 thousand people (1,5%) over the last 12 months compared the July 1 2013.
" Over the first 6 months of 2014 the number of births amounted to 193 thousand people or 2.5% more than in the first half of last year. The number of deaths amounted to 66 thousand people, or 5% less than last year," - he said.
In addition, the number of deaths of children under the age of one year was 2,068 children and decreased in comparison with the previous year by 7.2%.
