Almaty held "Disability rights view" training

20 young physically challenged people participated in “Disability rights view” training organized by the Association of disabled women “Shanyrak” the damu.kz informs.
The training targets a development of advocacy potential of young physically challenged people through fostering of disability modern understanding and leadership skills development.
The training process included learning the concepts of charity, medical and social models of disability from a legal point of view.
In addition, another goal of the event was to train the young generation to speak without disguise on their problems and needs and feel entitled.
According to the training participants, stereotypes and labels dictated by the environment plays a great role in physically challenged people’s isolation. Whereas the disabled people are ready and wish to take an active part in the society’s life on a par with people without disability.
