“Barrier-free environment” campaign held across Kazakhstan

Public campaign “Barrier-free environment” with participation of representatives of public organizations, people with disabilities, mass media and “Nur Otan” Party took place in 16 regions of Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population informs.

The main purpose of the event is a social monitoring of social and significant infrastructure for accessibility for persons with disabilities,  and familiarization with activities of local authorities to implement the orders of the Head of State to establish a "barrier-free environment" in Kazakhstan as well.

According to the authority 26 thousand facilities underwent passportization (inventory) (schools, hospitals, libraries, culture houses, railway stations, airports etc.) 82 percent of them are needed adaptation i.e. equipment with wheelchair ramps, audio / visual / acoustic / tactile devices, information signs, parking lots, scrolling information boards, so that every citizen of Kazakhstan was able to visit them.
