Forum of ISO heads of national standardization bodies kicked off in Astana

The ISO forum of heads of the national standardization authorities of Central Asia, Easter and Central Europe has started up today August 5.

“This Forum with participation of ISO Secretary General Rob Steele will be a good tradition. Kazakhstan and a lot of countries of our region are progressed in international standardization development,” Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev announced during the welcoming speech.

As reported earlier, Standardization Program, industry development are top priorities of the country.

“It is really important to ensure world’s best international standards’ technology adoption. In my opinion, cooperation of our industry with ISO standards is an important factor and condition of diversification of the Kazakhstan’s economy and successful business development,” the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

The main purpose of the forum is to formulate proposals on the ISO Strategy for 2016-2020, discuss issues the intellectual of property protection, satisfaction of customer needs and topical issues of development of the national market strategies of the ISO member states.

Top managers representing the sphere of regulation and standardization of 20 states including Romania, Croatia, Belarus, Albania, Latvia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Georgia and others take part ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental membership organization and the world's largest developer of voluntary International Standards.

Our members are the national standards bodies of our 163 member countries around the world. OurCentral Secretariat is based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Kazakhstan is a member of the ISO since 1994.The hosting of the Forum seeks raising of the country’s image at the world arena.
