Ministry of Emergencies studies Karaganda rgn’s geology following earthquake

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan has started to study geology of Karaganda after the earthquake with magnitude of 4.8 points that was registered 206 km south-east of Astana city, 26 km away of Karaganda city on July 21 at 12.30 am.

Personnel of the Ministry of Emergencies greeted the news on the earthquake very quickly.

The head of the agency noted that he had no official data relating the earthquake.

"The earthquake is an unprecedented fact. I cannot say, why it happened. moving plate, or something else could cause it. I have no official information from the institution on this  issue," he said.

"The earthquake that occurred in the Karaganda region, is tectonic in nature, it occurred at a depth of 10 km. Currently all the data are analyzed and the geology of the region is studied" the Minister added.
