Higher education institutions of Kazakhstan will be able to establish their selection criteria for prospective students since 2016 so far, Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Aslan Sarinzhipov said at the media briefing today.
"We currently work on refreshment of the secondary education and we also work on development of a new grading system. This system will comprise both final exams and some issues regarding university admission. It is planned to allow universities to partially define the level of grades necessary for admission,” the Minister Sarinzhipov announced.
Mr. Sarinzhipov noted such the system is currently applied for creative specialities that require additional exams.
“According to the plan we start testing the new grading system in 2015. A year later, in 2016, we will introduce all the new systems,” the head of Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan concluded.
