CIS defense ministers talked over cooperation issues in Astana
The council members discussed documents on the status of servicemen of the CIS member nations’ armed forces during humanitarian mine clearance operations and exchange views on safety of flights, control and assessment of radiological, chemical and biological situation, priority researches in the field of air defense, joint use of spacecrafts, etc, the press service of the Kazakh Defense Ministry reported.
The CIS defense ministers also discussed the conceptual approaches of military cooperation within the CIS area until 2020 and review a number of issues related to cooperation in the area of military education.
Council of Defense Ministers is a body of the Council of the Heads of States responsible for military policy of the states - participants of the CIS.
Its working office is a Staff which coordinates military cooperation of the CIS member states, prepares and holds meetings of the Council of Defence Ministers, organizes the activities of groups of military observers and collective forces for peace keeping in the CIS.
