List of categories for getting of social assistance to be enlarged in Astana
“Social assistance is rendered in monetary or physical form to separate categories of needy citizens in case of hard life situations, and on holidays and memorable days. Several amendments have been introduced to these rules. And one more category has been added to categories of social beneficiaries in addition to veterans of the Great Patriotic war, elderly people, disabled people, victims of political repressions, large families, orphans, children left without parents’ care, graduates of orphanages – citizens with socially significant diseases”, Alma Altybayeva, the head of the Administration of employment and social programs of Astana, told in the course of the session, astana.kz reports.
According to her, persons with socially significant diseases (HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malignant tumors), children registered in dispensaries, will get material assistance every quarter. Besides, citizens in hard life situations will get means for immediate purchase of medicines, medical services and solution of other financial problems. The amount of assistance depends on actual expenses.
The head of the metropolitan administration told about free passage by the city public transport for separate categories of the population: “This social assistance is rendered to retirement pensioners, large families, disabled people, participants of the Great Patriotic war, who are registered and live in Astana. Free passage by the city public transport is based on documents confirming their category. Previously one had to show passage tickets, but now we want to abolish this rule. Now this category of the population will have to show only certificate of the disabled or pension certificate”.
