Kazakhstan and OSCE debated issues relating national minorities affairs

Vice Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan Zhanay Omarov has held a meeting with the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Astrid Thors.
Astrid Thors got acquainted with the situation concerning the rights of national minorities in Kazakhstan, their access to secondary and higher education, Zh.Omarov told about the language situation in the country and some of the issues raised in onomastics, the press service of the Ministry of Culture reports.
The sides have considered transfer of the Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet.
OSCE High Commissioner appreciated the state and prospects of development in the field of ethnic and cultural relations and language development in Kazakhstan, and expressed appreciation for the cooperation and active engagement in promoting inter-ethnic relations.
