S. Mussabekova: Voluntary blood donation amounts - 50 % (BRIEFING VIDEO)

The CCS media briefing on social projects and charity events within celebration of the Day of Capital City was held today. Deputy Director for medical work of the Scientific and Production Center of Transfusion Medicine Shaizhamal Mussabekova told about an event “Drop of your blood will save somebody’s life!”.

“The event titled “Drop of your blood will save somebody’s life!” was held within the framework of the events dedicated to celebration of the Day of Capital City,” she noted adding that this was a display of humanness and even self-sacrifice in some sense because even the word “donor” means “present” in Greek.

“In terms of some figures, I can say that we have prepared 120 liters of blood that can help 75 people,” S. Mussabekova said.

Besides, according to her, this campaign was aimed at attraction of attention of people in order to show that everyone has to become a donor. “First of all, it means healthy lifestyle. Only a healthy person can be a donor, therefore the requirements are very high. We annually prepare about 35-36 liters of blood and around 40-45 thousand people donate their blood every year,” she added.
