Meeting of Ministers in Charge of Economy of Turkic Council held in Cholpon-Ata

Today June 20, the Meeting of Ministers in Charge of Economy of the Turkic Council is held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic. Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey will discuss the prospects of expanding economic cooperation among the members of the Turkic Council.

The Kazakh Delegation is led by Vice Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Timur Zhaksylykov

Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkic Council member states on cooperation in the field of investment statistics; exchange of experience in the investment climate  is expected to be signed.

Besides, sessions of working groups on investment climate improvement, diversification of economy and entrepreneurships will take place during the meeting, the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning informs.

The Turkic Council is an international organization comprising Turkic countries. It was founded on 3 October 2009 in Nakhchivan. The General Secretariat is in İstanbul, Turkey. The member countries are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. The remaining two Turkic states, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are not currently official members of the council due to their neutral stance; however, they are possible future members of the council.The idea of setting up this cooperative council was first put forward by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev back in 2006.
