Kazakhstani medicine for treating tuberculosis developed by Kazakhstani scientists will help reduce tuberculosis morbidity, project manager Murat Kulmanov told about it during the CCS media briefing. According to him, the drug has already been tested and proved to be effective.

“Over the ten year period of functioning of the center we have managed to create a new medicine with no analogues in the world. This is FS-1 for treating tuberculosis. The first product that meets all the standards has been already produced,” he said and noted that two stages of tests had already been run and they proved the medicine to be highly effective. “It can lead to solution of the tuberculosis problem in Kazakhstan in the nearest future,” he added.

According to him, the unique medicine allows to solve the problem of resistance of microorganisms to antibiotics.

“After completion of the second stage we sent our request to the Ministry of Healthcare to register the innovation,” M. Kulmanov said.
