1.5 mln people visited Yasawi Mausoleum in 2019
Last year, the number of visitors to the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi amounted to 1.5 million people. By 2025, it is planned to increase this figure to 5 million visitors. This was announced by Deputy Governor of Turkestan region Meirzhan Myrzaliyev, Strategy2050.kz reports citing Turkestan region’s regional communications service.
Meirzhan Myrzaliyev noted that key indicators of the tourism industry are growing compared to previous years.

“Over the 11 months of 2019, the volume of investments allocated in housing and food matters reached 13 billion tenge, so we enter the top three in the country. In the region, historical and cultural directions are dynamically progressing - Turkestan-Otrar, health-improving in the Saryagash resort zone, ecological tourism in Tyulkubass and Tolebi districts”, the Deputy Governor of the region said.
In total, there are 168 hotels, 51 resorts, and 60 recreation centers in the region. 57 tourist routes have been developed in the direction of ecological, historical and educational tourism. This year it is planned to open additional 20 hotels: 8 of them will be commissioned, and 7 - repaired. 5 health centers will be opened. In addition, hotels in Turkestan are undergoing major repairs in accordance with international requirements.
Currently, the construction of the “Visit Center”, the “National Center for Traditional Crafts on the Great Silk Road”, the International Airport, the Museum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and many other objects for visiting is carried out in the regional center.
