Kazakh President met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong
As part of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Akorda’s press service informs.
During the meeting, the Head of State noted the friendly nature of relations between the two countries.
“Kazakhstan greatly respects your country. We still remember that the founder of modern Singapore, your father Lee Kuan Yew, who had close relations with First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, visited Kazakhstan in the early 90's. I think we have a definite basis for close relations between our countries”, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The Prime Minister of Singapore confirmed his intention to continue strengthening relations between the two states.
“We will be glad to further develop this cooperation. I look forward to working with you being the President”, Lee Hsien Loong said.
The parties noted the expansion of bilateral trade, economic and investment relations, as well as the growing interaction within the framework of the Astana International Financial Center.
At the end of the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev invited the Head of Singapore to visit our country.
“We look forward to seeing you in Kazakhstan at any time convenient for you. Your visit will provide a good opportunity to discuss a number of specific issues for the development of mutual cooperation”, the President emphasized.
