Yacht Racing World Championship “Balkhash 2014” to be held in Kazakhstan
For the first time ever, Yacht Racing World Championship “Balkhash 2014” will take place on Balkhash Lake, Kazakhstan.
The competition which is scheduled on June 15-22, this year will bring about 50 boats to Balkhash from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and the Baltic States.
The length of route is 325 kilometers.
According to the press service of the Agency for Sports and Physic Culture, female crew Monella will take part in the yachting on behalf of Kazakhstan.
Yacht racing is a form of sport reserved for yachts and larger sailboats.
“Yacht” is referred to as deriving from either Norweigian ("jagt"), Middle Low German ("jaght") or from the Dutch word jacht, which means “a swift light vessel of war, commerce or pleasure. The sporting element in the word lies in the derivation of jaght from the root jaghen, which means to hunt, chase or pursue.
Yacht racing usually refers to sailboat racing in a variety of forms with large racing yachts; distinguished from dinghy racing.
