New Astana plant to produce solar panels using Kazakhstan silicon

The opening ceremony was attended by heads of state agencies, national companies and representatives of the French business community - the project partners.

The President of Kazakhstan launched the plant «Astana Solar» LLP and held an informal meeting with a group company. The Head of State noted that the opening of a new production for the country is a great gift for the whole of Kazakhstan on the eve of the New Year.

"When we speak about industrialization, the first idea that comes into the mind is innovation. We have not had such plant ever before. You are the employees of the first plant, which produces solar modules. We have chosen this topic Future Energy for "EXPO-2017", because "green" economy has a great future, we are ready for the new forms of energy," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The plant «Astana Solar» LLP (subsidiary of JSC "NAC" Kazatomprom ") is the final link of technological project in which Kazakhstan created a fully integrated production line for the production of renewable energy.

A new plant in Astana will produce solar panels on the basis of the new silicon. The plant is equipped with the latest generation of automated equipment that meet the highest standards of safety and environmental standards. The design capacity of the scheduled photovoltaic plates is 50 MW with an expansion in the run up to 100 MW.

The commissioned enterprise will employ 175 Kazakhstani specialists in various fields, some of them passed specialized training abroad.
