Kazakh President establishes Abai Qunanbaiuly 175th Commemoration State Commission

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev issued a decree creating a State commission for the preparation for and holding of celebrations of the 175th anniversary of the birth of Abai Qunanbaiuly, the Akorda informed.

To ensure organizational and substantive preparations for celebrating the 157th birth anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly in 2020, I DECIDE:

1. To set up the State commission for the preparation for and holding of celebrations of the 175th anniversary of the birth of Abai Qunanbaiuly, (hereinafter - the State Commission) under annex.

2. The Ministry of Culture and Sport of Kazakhstan acts as this Commission’s executive arm.

3. The Kazakh Government shall submit for consideration a draft republic-wide plan to prepare for and hold celebrations of the 175th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly before the State Commission by 1 October 2019.

4. The State Commission shall:

1) approve the republic-wide plan to prepare for and hold celebrations of the 175th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly by 1 November 2019;

2) undertake other measures to follow up on the present Decree.

5. Paragraph 1, subsections 1 and 2 of the Presidential Order of 30 May 2019 No.55 “On celebrating the 175th anniversary of the birth of Abai Qunanbaiuly” are hereby repealed

6. Control over implementation of the present Decree is assigned for the Kazakh Presidential Administration.  

7. The present Decree takes effect upon its signing.
