Kazakh-Egyptian Business Forum: boosting investment cooperation
Kazakhstan is well-known for investors due to investment preferences the country provides by law, with every meeting of foreign delegations is not without discussing investment issues. This time, the investment potential was slated for the visit of a delegation from the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Kazakh capital city, Astana, hosted a Kazakh-Egyptian Business Forum chaired by First Deputy Trade and Industry Minister of Egypt Ahmed Taha Boraya, involving more than 100 representatives of large and medium-sized companies from Kazakhstan and more than 20 Egyptian companies. The Forum was part of the visit of the Egyptian delegation, also including meetings with heads of some ministries and authorities, Astana’s Mayor’s Office, the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurship, “KIT” Business Association. The Egyptian side said to be interested in meeting business and business circles representatives of the country.
One of the Forum’s speakers was Marat Birimzhan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Invest National Company, who gave a speech about the investment opportunities and action in support of foreign investors in Kazakhstan.
“Kazakh Invest National Company plays a role of a single negotiator when discussing the prospects and conditions for investment projects’ implementation represented by the Kazakh Government”, he noted.
The Company runs on the “single window” principle, thus providing a full range of services to support investment projects from ideas to their implementation, assisting in obtaining the following public services: legal entities’ registration, obtaining of different permissions and approvals necessary to implement and further exploitation of investment projects, including the existing government support measures for investors.
The Kazakh Invest’s role as the single focal point for social economic zones of Kazakhstan was outlined.
Kazakhstan and Egypt have built close cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, with the trade turnover of US $83.9 million between the two nations in 2017. The exports are dominated by oil and petroleum products, metal items, flax seeds. And, the imports are primarily composed of flavouring substances, chemical manufacturing items, pharmaceuticals, clothes, products of the light and food industry, and so on.
The sides noted a huge potential to further expand and deepen the investment and trade and economic interaction.
