25 % of Almaty residents go in for sports actively

According to the statistics, 25 percent of Almaty residents go in for sports and promote a healthy life, the Almaty city Mayor’s Office reports.

1066 gyms and fitness clubs operate in Almaty city. In addition a number of sold bikes is increased.

"Thus, 6,000 units was sold in 2009. And 15 000 units have already sold for 7 months of 2014. Over the past five years, the number of shops selling bicycles has increased by 50%, and service centers - 7 times. Due to this fact 164 new jobs created in this sphere. The total number of bicycles in Almaty today according to UNDP is over 90 000 units," a statement reads.
