Eurasian Economic Union Treaty pursues purely economic goals – Sagintayev (BRIEFING VIDEO)

The treaty on the establishment of the Eurasian Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus that has been signed today in Astana by the three heads of state is purely economic in nature, First Deputy Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintaev has said at a briefing.

"If you read the preamble of the treaty, then it is clearly stated that a purely economic union is created and all work will be carried out within the framework of our economies. Today, we have witnessed the establishment of the union of purely economic nature. Each country said that it pursues primarily economic pragmatism," Sagintayev noted.

He noted a general interest of the participants in the growth of national economies, expansion of trade, investment growth, which will contribute to GDP growth and, hence improve the welfare of the people.
