G.Abdikalikova: Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the rule of law

Secretary of State of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova took part in the round table "Human Rights - a basis of harmonious development of the society and State", dedicated to the World Human Rights Day, the Akorda press-service reports.

The event was also attended by Prosecutor General Zh. Asanov, Chairman of the Human Rights Commission K.Sultanov, Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan N. Shimomura, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan T.Hristea, Head of the Office of the OSCE Programs in Astana D.Sabo, Coordinator for Central Asia, Head of the Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan D. Keserovich and others.

In her welcoming speech, the Secretary of State stressed that the President of Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the rule of law and the establishment of a legal culture in the Kazakhstani society, respect for the constitutional rights of citizens in the context of international obligations.

"Today, Kazakhstan is at the stage of systemic institutional reforms. This year, on the initiative of the Head of State, the Third Modernization of the country began, the main goal of which is to enter the top 30 countries of the world", she said.

Gulshara Abdykalikova noted the particular urgency of discussing issues in the field of human rights in the lead of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the UN Security Council in 2018.

In the speeches of the participants of the round table, issues of the realization of human rights and freedoms, guaranteed by the Constitution and the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, improvement of the national mechanism for the protection of human rights were discussed. The importance of the Five Institutional Reforms, the program article of the Head of State "The Course towards Future: Modernization of Public Conscience", as well as international human rights treaties ratified by the Republic of Kazakhstan was specially noted.

G.Abdikalikova expressed gratitude to the international institutions: the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan, the Delegation of the European Union and the OSCE Programs Office in Astana, the International Organization for Migration, and Human Rights NGOs for constructive cooperation.

In conclusion, Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan G. N. Abdykalikova congratulated those present on the upcoming holiday - Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
