First train "New silk road" went along Finland-Russia-Kazakhstan-China route

From the small Finnish town, which promises to become one of the largest transport hubs in Northern Europe, the first train of the container train went along the route Kouvola (Finland) - Buslovskaya (Russia) - Altynkol (Kazakhstan) - Xian (China) with a length of 8.5 thousand km, which will take ten days.

Minister of Justice of Finland Antti Häkkänen, Mayor of Kouvola Marita Toikka, Ambassador of China Cheng Li, Head of the Trade Mission of Russia Sergey Sinelnikov, as well as the representatives of the business circles of the four States involved in the implementation of the new transcontinental project took part in the solemn event.

Kazakhstan at the official launch ceremony of the train was presented by Ambassador to Finland Murat Nurtleuov, Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aigul Kuspan and Head of the Container Transportation Department of the JSC "KTZ-Express" Almat Karimov.

"The new route became the fifth corridor, which is established by Kazakhstan jointly with its Asian and European States in the framework of the initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. New economic policy "Nurly zhol" and its connection with the Chinese initiative "One belt - One way", the participants voiced .

The Heads of the delegations of the partner countries of Kazakhstan highly appreciated the key role of our country in the development of transport and logistics cooperation and deepening of trade and economic ties in the Eurasian space. The significant contribution of the main operator of the new route, JSC "National company "Kazakhstan temir zholy", responsible for the implementation of the agreement signed in December 2016 between Kazakhstan, Finland, Russia and China on the opening of the "Eastern Transport Corridor" was especially noted.

Mayor of Kouvola Marita Toikka is convinced that the launch of a railway communication between Finland and China is of historic importance for all participating countries. Kouvola itself will become the "North Gate" of the Great Silk Road.

In turn, Minister of Justice of Finland A. Häkkänen, on behalf of the leadership of Suomi, expressed gratitude to the Kazakh, Chinese and Russian sides for their support and close cooperation, stressing the growing role of railroad communications in the global economy.

"The Silk Road opens additional opportunities for social and economic prosperity of the regions, protecting the environment and active exchange among participants with an emphasis on digital technologies," the Minister said.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador M. Nurtleuov emphasized Astana's commitment to ensuring peace, strengthening stability and expanding economic cooperation in Eurasia. In this connection, many initiatives of the Head of our State already fruitfully serve the dialogue between Asia and Europe.

"Regional and global initiatives of modern Kazakhstan, carrying out profound transformations through the modernization of the State and society, contribute not only to effective trade, economic and investment ties, but also the harmonization of peoples, cultural and humanitarian, scientific, educational and technological exchanges. A good example of such good steps is the transport and logistics component of the complex external economic and foreign policy course of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
