During the talk with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rasit Meredow, the implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to Astana in April and the working visit of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to Turkmenistan in September this year was discussed. The Turkmen side received congratulations on the successful holding of the 5th Asian Games in indoor and martial arts. The interlocutors called for an early completion of work on the draft Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.
During the meeting of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, K. Abdrakhmanov informed his colleague Salahuddin Rabbani about the educational program implemented by Kazakhstan for Afghan students. The sides also touched upon the theme of the ministerial debate "Building a regional partnership in Afghanistan and Central Asia as a model for the interdependence of security and development", scheduled for January 2018, under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the UN Security Council.
The sides discussed ways to develop a strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States with Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States and Senior Director for South and Central Asia of the National Security Council Lisa Curtis.
Particular attention is paid to the preparation of upcoming meetings at the highest and government levels. An exchange of views was held on strengthening regional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the United States, including in the framework of the C5 + 1 dialogue.
L. Curtis noted that the United States highly appreciates the contribution of Kazakhstan to the development of Afghanistan through the provision of humanitarian, technical and educational assistance.
The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan met with UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenca, thanked the interlocutor for supporting the UN efforts of Kazakhstan to promote the interests of Central Asia.
K.Abdrakhmanov dwelled in detail on the events planned by Kazakhstan during the chairmanship in the UN Security Council in January 2018. The course of implementation of a number of foreign policy initiatives of President N.A. Nazarbayev in the field of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, fighting terrorism, ensuring sustainable development was discussed.
At a meeting with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto topical issues of international and regional cooperation in the context of Afghanistan's development were discussed. The sides also discussed the results of the visit of Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations K. Umarov to Kabul as a Chairman of the 1988 sanction committee.
