The partners of the event were the Commission for Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the Mayor’s Office of Astana and the international organization EXPO&Women.
The participants of the round table discussed the role of women at the decision-making level, women's entrepreneurship as a resource for the development of small and medium-sized businesses and a reserve for creating new jobs, social innovations in entrepreneurship. During the event, they shared their experience in the development of social entrepreneurship, support of women's initiatives in the field of ecology, innovations in the context of preparations for the international exhibitions EXPO-2019, EXPO-2020.
At the same time, despite the high activity in all spheres of country's life, it is generally difficult for Kazakhstanis to get into leadership positions, Mazhilis Deputy Maira Aisina said during the speech.
"In country's parliament, nearly 30 per cent of women are represented. But among the civil servants on the leading positions only one in ten is a woman", M. Aisina stated.
According to the Deputy, local representative bodies in Kostanay and Pavlodar regions can serve as an example for regions, where the number of women Deputies in district and city maslikhats is 25-30%.
