Speaking to the participants of the round table of the Forum "Political Joint Activity for Closer Cooperation," the Head of State stressed that the idea of President Xi Jinping to resume the ancient Silk Road in Eurasia in a new, modern format was a timely response to the increased political, economic and humanitarian crises in the world.
"Paternalism and the use of politically motivated sanctions have worsened economic activity and lives of millions of people. As a result, the world economy and trade in recent years show a sluggishness and decline. In these conditions, the world began to badly need a new driver for stimulation of international cooperation," the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev has noted that the initiative "One Belt, One Way" allows forming a new geo-economic paradigm, a successful implementation of which will benefit countries with a total population of 4.4 billion people.
The Head of State separately focused on the strong aspects of the new model of regional cooperation "One Belt, One Way".
"The declared approach of "stability through joint development" is now an attractive form of international cooperation, reflecting the economic interests of dozens of countries. In this connection, now, when certain contours of the Silk Road are visible, joint strategic coordination of this macroregional cooperation is needed. The implementation of the Silk Road initiative allows for the re-positioning of entire regions, including Central Asia in a global context," the President of Kazakhstan noted.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that Central Asia has regained its strategic importance, becoming the main bridge between the world's largest markets.
In addition, the President of Kazakhstan noted the important role of the Eurasian Economic Union in this process.
"The idea of creating a single economic space "Big Eurasia" is filled with a new meaning. The economic belt of the Silk Road can advantageously link the platforms of the SCO, the EEU and the European Union to a single regional territory of prosperity," the Head of State said.
In his speech Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed the number of concrete steps on implementation of the "One Belt, One Way" initiative.
"To effectively master the growing transit potential of the Silk Road Economic Zone, it is necessary to consistently facilitate the passage of commodity flows through improving the level of service and removing administrative barriers to which Kazakhstan takes concrete measures. This requires expertise and appropriate funding. I believe that the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investments needs to more actively finance such programs - it is investments in the future," the President of Kazakhstan said.
In addition, the Head of State stressed the importance of developing agricultural cooperation with a view to ensuring food security of the countries along the new Silk Road.
Also, Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested concentrating on closer cooperation in the sphere of innovative and scientific and technological development.
"It is advisable to consider issues of joint financing of projects, establishment of R & D centers and transfer of technologies, innovative companies, venture funds. In this context, I would like to draw the attention of respected participants of the Roundtable to the initiative of Kazakhstani scientists on the establishment of the International Academy of Sciences of the Silk Road. It is important not to miss complex environmental issues, including the problem of rational management of water resources of intracontinental transboundary rivers, which can be transport arteries," the President of Kazakhstan said.
In conclusion, the Head of State noted the importance of mutual trust between the countries involved, their readiness for equal and comprehensive cooperation for the successful development of the idea "One Belt, One Way".
