"The culmination of our non-permanent membership in the Security Council will be a rotational monthly updated chairmanship, which will fall to the share of Kazakhstan in this body during January 2018. The central issue of the chairmanship will be the adoption of a specific document. This could be a Security Council resolution, which requires the consensus of all members of this body, or the statement of the Security Council Chairman for Central Asia and Afghanistan. Prior to the beginning of the chairmanship, the work will be carried out to coordinate and work out with the members of the Council issues of interest to Kazakhstan", K. Abdrakhmanov said.
According to the Minister, after country's chairmanship in the Security Council in January 2018 the work will be carried out on the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
"In this regard, I would like to remind that all our steps aimed at drawing the attention of the world community and the Security Council in particular to the challenges and threats facing Central Asia will be conducted in close coordination with our partners in this region", K. Abdrakhmanov informed.
It should be recalled that on January 10 at the open debate of the UN Security Council Kairat Abdrakhmanov presented a special political appeal of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev "Kazakhstan Conceptual Vision: Simplifying Global Partnership for Building a Safe Fair and Prosperous World". This appeal aroused the great interest among all members of the Security Council and received a good response among partners, having received the official status of a document of the General Assembly and the UN Security Council. In President's Address there are seven priorities of our work in the UN Security Council. Undoubtedly, the realization of the strategic vision of the Head of State and his foreign policy initiatives will be the main task of the Kazakh delegation to the UN Security Council.
