According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the sides expressed satisfaction with the development of the strategic partnership between two countries and reaffirmed the mutual commitment of Astana and Paris to its further strengthening and expansion.
In his speech, R. Vassilenko noted that in the political plan the countries have reached a high level of mutual understanding. Paris supports key regional and international initiatives advanced by Astana.
Important events of the last few years have been the state visit of the President of France Francois Hollande to Kazakhstan in December 2014 and the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to France in November 2015.
"A key aspect of our bilateral relations is an extensive legal framework where in the Agreement on Strategic Partnership, signed in 2008, occupies a special place. As cultural ties have expanded and strengthened, so too has friendship between the peoples of the two countries. Cooperation in the field of education was granted new impetus in 2014, when the world’s second and Central Asia’s only branch of the French Sorbonne University was opened in Almaty", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
F. Eten noted the symbolism of the number 25 for two countries saying that the first Kazakh music sounded in Paris in 1925 under "EXPO-1925". And in 2016 it was the 50th anniversary of the visit by General Charles de Gaulle to the cosmodrome "Baikonur".
During his speech the French diplomat read a congratulatory message from French President F. Hollande addressed to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and France, where the French leader reaffirmed the commitment of the country to Kazakhstan-French strategic partnership.
