Attorneys General of Kazakhstan and USA discuss prospects of legal cooperation

Kazakhstan Prosecutor General Ashat Daulbaev has met with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder during his official visit to the United States, the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan reports.

A wide range of issues of bilateral legal cooperation, including the buildup and strengthening of the current legal framework and legal assistance in criminal matters were discussed at the meeting.

Mr. Daulbaev said that Kazakhstan General Prosecutor's Office is actively cooperating with the U.S. relevant authorities assisting them in investigation of criminal cases. He also thanked for the assistance provided to the law enforcement bodies of Kazakhstan by the FBI and the Federal Drug Agency.

The Attorneys General expressed mutual interest of law enforcement agencies of the two states in establishing and developing a constructive dialogue, in exchange of experience and expertise in the fight against organized and transnational crime, terrorism and extremism, cyber crime drug trafficking and laundering of the proceeds from crime.

At the end of the meeting, the Attorneys General of Kazakhstan and the United States agreed on elaboration of the issue of entering into an interagency memorandum of understanding and cooperation.
