Kazakhstan came out on top in attracting foreign direct investment among countries that have no access to sea

Following the results of 2015 Kazakhstan has come out on top in attracting net foreign direct investment among the countries that have no access to the sea. According to the UN, Kazakhstan joined 130 countries in attracted net foreign direct investment, Minister of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev has said during the VI International Investment Forum in Astana.

"Following the results of 2015 we’ve entered 130 countries in terms of attracted net foreign direct investment. The first place in the world is among countries without access to the sea, and the second is among the countries with credit economies, according to the UN", the Minister has said.

However, the head of the Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan has noted that the emphasis in attracting investment is on the quality of investments, primarily industry and service with high added value.

"With this we have achieved growth in investment in the manufacturing sector, for the first time it’s higher than in the traditional extractive industries", the Minister has added.
