Abuov: Secularism - important condition for Kazakhstan’s development

The secular state is an important condition for successful innovation and competitive development of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Congress of religious scholars of Kazakhstan Aidar Abuov has said during the V Forum of religious scholars in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The V Forum of religious scholars of Kazakhstan "Secular state and high spirituality - platform of the Nation of common future" has started its work in Astana. It has been organized by the Committee for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan. The forum is attended by deputies of the Majilis, scientists, religious scholars, theologians, representatives of religious communities, teachers of optional course "Basics of religious studies" and others.

"Kazakhstan is a good example of how representatives of different nations and religions can live in peace and harmony. The platform, on which the relationships of religions present in Kazakhstan are based, is constructive and productive cooperation between the parties on the way to our common goal - building of “Mangilik El”, A. Abuov has said.

According to him, the past four forums of religious scholars demonstrated that it has become an effective and open dialogue platform for eminent scholars of religious studies, experts in the field of religious ideologues issues and government representatives.

"The strategic goal of the state policy in the sphere of religion is creation of the most optimal balance between the interests of the secular state and religious associations of the country, building cooperation with all denominations, officially operating in the legal field of the country. The secular state and secular society is one of the fundamental values ​​which are designated in the Address of President Nursultan Nazarbayev. The secular nature of our state is an important condition for successful innovation and competitive development of Kazakhstan on the platform of the Common Future", he has stressed.

Within the V Forum of religious scholars it’s planned to consider topical issues of the state policy in the religious sphere, problems and prospects of continuity of spiritual traditions in the modern Kazakhstan society, especially the teaching of religion in educational institutions, problems and solutions.

Vice-Minister of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Marat Azilkhanov has noted that the theme line of the event will be understanding of the ideas of the Leader of the Nation on promotion of the secular principles of country's development and the promotion of traditional spiritual values. According to him, the forum will be an effective dialogue platform to unite the intellectual and spiritual potential of the country.
