During the meeting the Special Rapporteur has been presented the Review paper on the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association in Kazakhstan, which sets out the current situation in Kazakhstan in this sphere, the MFA informed.
Speaking about the election of Kazakhstan in the Bureau of the UN Council on Human Rights in the status of Vice-President in 2015, Idris noted that Kazakhstan is focused on further constructive cooperation with all international organizations and human rights institutions.
"With regard to the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association it was noted that the Government of Kazakhstan decided to develop a draft law on amendments to some legislative acts on safety during the sports, cultural, entertainment and other mass activities. According to the established periodicity, the reports on the implementation of human rights conventions are sent to Geneva. For example, last year, Kazakhstan carried out four successful defenses in the UN Human Rights Council under the three conventions (racial discrimination, women, torture) and the Universal Periodic Review (UPR)", the message reads.
Nowadays a lot of work on further improving the legal framework and practical measures in the human dimension is carried out in Kazakhstan. The Concept of legal policy for 2010-2020 is developed and implemented. In the near future it is planned to develop the new draft of National Action Plan for Human Rights until 2020.
However, the state bodies of Kazakhstan paid much attention to increase the legal culture of the population, as well as cooperation with the civil society. In order to ensure full monitoring of opinions and promote the adoption of the necessary decisions in the field of human rights, the consultative and advisory body entitled "Dialogue platform on the Human Dimension" works under the MFA RK.
